Growing up Jason always knew he wanted to be involved in the livestock industry. Born in Kingaroy, Jason spent his early years on the family property at Gordonbrook west of Kingaroy where they ran a Brahman cross breeder herd. At 10 years old Jason and his family relocated to Augathella in western QLD to manage a cattle grazing property. Some of Jason’s fond memories include mustering branding and trucking cattle with his father from the Augathella property.

After selling the Gordonbrook farm his parents purchased an 18,000-acre property at Morven in 1997. Jason completed schooling through the School of Distance Education at Charleville whilst also working on the family property. His first job after leaving school was a labourer in the shearing sheds where he learnt the skills as a shearer working around the Morven, Mitchell and Charleville Districts. Jason also spent time contract mustering in the Northern Territory and in 2008 moved to the Darling Downs area.

For the next decade Jason worked around the Darling Downs and into the Burnett on Feedlots, livestock properties and at the local Dalby and Coolabunia Saleyards. The opportunity arose for Jason to start his career as a Livestock Agent and Auctioneer in Murgon in 2016, before starting his own franchise agency in 2018 and by mid-2020 Wicks and Co Agencies was born.

Jason is passionate about livestock sales and uses a hands-on approach with his clients. When not at the saleyards Jason enjoys visiting properties and assisting clients to discuss informed ways in marketing both livestock and real estate.

Jason prides himself in offering professional, honest and reliable market information to his clients. He holds a great rapport with the many local buyers and processors, which allows for greater marketing options through the saleyards or private sales. Jason is driven to achieve the best possible results for his clients through innovative personalised marketing.

“One of the things that I enjoy most about being an agent, is that for me it’s not a job. I get to do what I love, selling livestock and properties whilst building relationships with my clients.”

Family time is important to Jason and on his days off he enjoys spending time watching the kids play sport, attending and sponsoring local events as well as Campdrafts.
